Also, after the release of “Canon EOS C300 = Awesome” video, Canon USA offered me an opportunity to shoot “whatever I wanted” on a newer prototype C300. This would be my follow-up project, so I really wanted to play to the camera’s strengths in a real production environment. I also wanted it to be weirder than the first video.

My friend Sam and I had been wanting to do an insane music video for MATH THE BAND for a few years now, and the project seemed like a perfect fit for the camera. It’s been years since I’ve been able to do anything I wanted in a video without interference from anyone, and I’m happy to say that I dig the results. We hope you do, too.

Also, in post production are my SAP commercials with Fender and Caterpillar. We filmed in Los Angeles for Fender back in March. My friend Bjorn Turoque from Air Guitar fame made a guest appearance.

In April, we traveled to Peoria, Illinois to film at the Caterpillar HQ.

I just got back from an awesome shoot that spanned Pennsylvania, California and Germany for a series of upcoming SAP.com relaunch videos that I directed and shot for the amazing folks at Ogilvy. We got a lot of great stuff in a very short amount of time and I’m very proud of what we pulled off. I can’t wait to show you the final product when it’s done!

Also, I recently worked with talented photographer Glen Luchford on the motion picture portion of his DVF Spring Collection Campaign. I was the DP on this project and I’m very happy with the results. There were lots of constraints but I think everyone did a terrific job. Here is the final product!

On deck is a project for DuPont, a new Asian Heritage Campaign for HBO as well as more SAP! Busy is good!

It’s been a long time since I’ve updated this site. A lot has already been going on in 2011 so it’s been hard finding time to catch my breath, but I’m thankful for the work that’s been keeping me busy and very thankful for the people I get to work with on a day to day basis. 2011, so far, has been amazing.

I thought I’d take the time tonight to update here right before taking off on my two week travel shoot with SAP and the folks at Ogilvy. I’m really excited about the project and am really glad that I’ll finally be able to visit Germany after wanting to go for many years (I even took German as a language in high school)! I was really happy with the work we did in 2010 and can’t wait to step it up a notch or two on the upcoming set of videos.

There are a few more projects currently in different stages of development. This morning we wrapped the first shoot of many for a secret video series we’re doing with the band Peelander-Z that I did the music video “So Many Mike” for in 2009.

A few days ago, I was informed that my HBO program, “East of Main Street: Asians Aloud,” won an award at the 2010 NAMIC Excellence in Multicultural Marketing Awards (EMMA)! It’s always nice to hear when a lot of hard work gets recognition. Congrats to the entire team at HBO and all the wonderful freelancers that I got to bring on for this project. Let’s hope next year can build upon its success!

The viewership numbers and reviews also came in very strong for “East of Main Street” and I was pleasantly surprised to find that the numbers were through the roof and beat out much better known programming in the category (though I can’t name names of those programs here). Thanks to everyone who watched and passed word along to get this small program get noticed!

In other news, I’ve been busy doing lots of other fun projects that I can’t wait to share with the world! Right now I’m working with the creative forces at Ogilvy on a campaign for SAP, where we showcase the work SAP has done with great companies like Skullcandy, Pinkberry, Forbes and Discovery Channel. We have gotten some awesome footage and interviews and I’m really excited to see how the edit turns out. It’s my first time directing for this team at Ogilvy and it’s been a lot of fun! And shooting for Pinkberry has gotten our entire crew addicted to their frozen yogurt. It’s a funny sight to see a group of sweaty men with equipment lined up to get some more Pinkberry at the end of the shoot day.

Other than that, there are a few cool music videos on the horizon and many more projects that are still in their creative infancy. Looking forward to keeping busy and making good work with great friends throughout the rest of the year!
